JACKSON, MS – The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) is proud to announce the generous donation—administered by the Mississippi Wildlife, Fisheries, Parks, Marine Foundation— of a Marsh Master II amphibious track vehicle on behalf of Mr. Jim Kennedy and York Woods, Mr. Kennedy’s private wildlife conservation property in Tallahatchie County.
This specialized machine is designed to operate in the most challenging wetland environments and will significantly enhance MDWFP’s ability to access remote or flooded areas that are otherwise unreachable with standard equipment.
“The Marsh Master II will be a valuable tool for our wetland management efforts across the state,” said Houston Havens, Waterfowl Program Director for MDWFP. “This donation directly supports our mission to conserve and manage Mississippi’s natural resources through habitat work on public lands.”
The Marsh Master II and its various implements will be utilized on Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) for wetland habitat improvement projects. These efforts will include:
  • Mechanical manipulation of flooded natural moist-soil and emergent aquatic vegetation
  • Spot-treating invasive or undesirable plant species using herbicides in hard-to-reach areas
  • Accessing flooded zones during high water events, and
  • Supplemental planting of waterfowl food in impoundments and mudflats
“This donation is more than a piece of equipment—it’s a catalyst for conservation,” said Roy Noble Lee, Jr., Board Chairman of the Mississippi Wildlife, Fisheries, Parks, Marine Foundation. “We are deeply grateful to Mr. Kennedy for his commitment to conservation and his partnership with MDWFP to ensure our wetlands and waterfowl habitats are managed effectively for future generations.”
MDWFP remains committed to strengthening public-private partnerships that lead to tangible conservation outcomes. The Marsh Master II donation is a testament to how collaboration can expand capacity and drive habitat improvement throughout Mississippi.

The mission of the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks is to conserve and enhance Mississippi’s wildlife, fisheries, and parks; provide quality outdoor recreation, and engage the public in natural resource conservation.
