In a 4-1 vote Thursday night, December 8th,  during the Simpson County School Board Meeting,  Superintendent Greg Paes recommended  the school board approve a $750 monthly supplement to Tom McAlpin’s salary  to assist with the inspections of sixteen section land, bids, etc. Mrs. Mary Ann Weathersby retired leaving the position vacant.  Weatherby’s duties were absorbed by district personnel, but due to demand of site inspections additional resources were needed. The board  voted in a 4-1 decision with Doris Perkins opposing to supplement  Tom McAlpin for this position for six months.  At the end of the six months, the board  will  determine whether  to continue with the division of the duties or to hire an additional employee.
