JACKSON, Miss. – The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) is investigating an officer involved shooting involving the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department that occurred on November 24th , 2023, on Brown Street in Meridian, Mississippi.
MBI received notification of this critical incident at approximately 5:45 a.m. Initial reports indicate that the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department was investigating a homicide that occurred on November 23, 2023, when deputies encountered a possible suspect in the homicide. After a brief pursuit, an exchange of gunfire between the subject and law enforcement occurred. During the exchange, one deputy was injured and transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The subject was arrested. MBI is currently assessing this critical incident and gathering evidence.
Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office.
