JACKSON, Miss. – The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) is investigating an officer involved shooting involving a Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy that occurred on February 1st, 2024. Deputies with Greene County Sheriff’s Office were involved in a pursuit with the subject when one deputy was struck by the subject’s vehicle and received non-life-threatening injuries. After continued pursuit, the subject’s vehicle veered off the road and came to a stop. The subject then exited the vehicle with a weapon and the deputies discharged their firearms. The subject surrendered to the officers on the scene. This information is preliminary and subject to change. MBI is currently assessing this critical incident and gathering evidence. Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the local District Attorney and/or Attorney General’s Office.
