Max Malone Kennedy, Jr., 55, of Taylorsville, Mississippi, was born Sunday, February 20, 1966, and passed peacefully from this life on Sunday, December 12, 2021. He was a loving father, son, brother, and friend.

Malone attended Jones County Community College (Ellisville, MS), Mississippi College (Clinton, MS), and Mississippi State University (Starkville, MS). Malone retired from the City of Jackson, where he served as Park Maintenance Supervisor for 30 years. During that time, Malone managed the curation and landscaping of all city parks and golf courses including Mynelle Botanical Gardens. Upon his retirement, Malone returned to Taylorsville and served as the Office Services Coordinator with Southern Pine Electric.

Along with being an avid outdoorsman, Malone enjoyed reading, following Mississippi State Athletics, and cooking. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Taylorsville, Mississippi.

Visitations will be held Wednesday, December 15, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Taylorsville, Mississippi, and on Thursday, December 16, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at First Presbyterian Church in Taylorsville, Mississippi.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, December 16, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church. The burial will follow in Clear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Tommy Shields will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Taylorsville is in charge of arrangements. (601) 785-6564.

Malone was preceded in death by his parents, Max M. Kennedy, Sr. and Lucy Stonestreet Kennedy; maternal grandparents, Doris Craig Stonestreet Lewis, Leonard Stonestreet, and Bolivar Lewis, Sr.; paternal grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. C.A Kennedy Sr.

Survivors include his beloved daughter, Thames Kennedy of Memphis, TN, his loving sister Lucy Craig Kennedy of LaPlace, LA.; Thames’s mother, Kriss Simpson Kennedy of Ridgeland, MS.; and a host of other family members and friends.
