(July 11, 1942 – May 12, 2022)

          Mary Jean Spells Canoy, 79 of Angleton, Texas  formerly of Magee, Mississippi passed away from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at her residence in Angleton, Texas. She was born Saturday, July 11, 1942, in Taylorsville, Mississippi.

          Visitation will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home at 302 8th Ave SW, Magee, Mississippi.

          Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. The burial will follow in Magee City Cemetery in Magee, Mississippi.  Brother Ben Yarber will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031

          Mrs.  Mary was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend.

          She was preceded in death by her husband, John Durwood Canoy; father, John L. Spells; mother, Aggie Barr Spells; and two sisters, Johnnie Faye Spells Adcock and Sue Spells Greyson.

          Survivors include her one son, John Matthew Canoy (Carrie) of Angleton, Texas; one daughter, Amy Washburn (Jason) of Liverpool, Texas; one brother, Tyke Spells of Virginia; and a host of other family members and friends.

          Pallbearers will be Jacob Canoy, Ritchie Hudson, Lance Canoy, Rockey Canoy, Howard Brown, and Doc Brown.  Honorary pallbearers will be Perry Canoy and Jason Washburn.
