Mark was a retired Supervisor from The Blain Companies. He was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. He developed his love for horses and cattle from following his grandfather to local “cow sales” and auctions. He was active in 4-H and FFA, but was most passionate about team roping. He was an active member of The United States Team Ropers Association. He traveled many miles across the USA and won many awards on both local and national levels.
Mark was a devoted father, a loving husband, and a dedicated family man. He will be missed, but his life will be remembered and celebrated in the memories told of his courage and inspiration to all.
Mark is preceded in death by his father, Durr; his father-in-law, Johnnie Riley, Kosciusko and his grandparents, Wilkin and Mamie Mangum and Timmie and Erna Welch.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Gene Riley Mangum; son, James Durr “Jamie” Mangum; daughter, Meredith Riley Mangum; mother, Joyce Welch Mangum; mother-in-law, Flora Riley, Kosciusko; sister, Marsha Mangum (Joe); sister-in-law, Paula Hulsebosch (John); nephew, Britt Magee (Madison); nieces, Candice Magee Wolken, (Mark), Nikki Ainsworth (Willie), Harley Hulsebosch; great-nephews, Ayden, Paxten and Owen Wolken, Gavin Magee; great-nieces, Vivian Joyce Magee and Sadie Ainsworth.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday. June 4, 2020, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Tutor Funeral Home in Mendenhall. Services are scheduled for Friday, June 5, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. at Tutor Funeral Home Chapel in Mendenhall. Bro. Earl Clark, his living kidney donor, and Bro. Don Lum will officiate. Interment will follow in Mendenhall City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Mendenhall City Cemetery, P. O. Box 838, Mendenhall, MS 39114 or Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency (MORA), 4400 Lakeland Drive, Flowood, MS 39232.
Arrangements are entrusted to Tutor Funeral Home of Mendenhall.
