Magee, MS – Lifelong Magee resident and current Alderman of Ward 1, Mark Grubbs, is pleased to officially announce his candidacy for Mayor of Magee in the upcoming April 1st primary election. With a strong work ethic, a commitment to progress, and a vision for a cleaner, safer, and more prosperous Magee, Grubbs is ready to bring the energy, accountability, and leadership the city needs to move forward.
“As someone who has spent my life in Magee, I know the challenges we face, but more importantly, I see the incredible potential our city has,” said Grubbs. “The time for action is now. We need leadership that is ready to roll up its sleeves, put in the hard work, and tackle issues head-on. Magee deserves a mayor who has the stamina and drive to get things done, and I am prepared to do exactly that.”
Grubbs has served the community as Alderman of Ward 1, where he has been a strong advocate for transparency, infrastructure improvements, and economic growth. Now, he is ready to take that commitment citywide. His plan for Magee includes:
- Cleaning up the city and revitalizing neighborhoods to attract businesses and boost community pride.
- Investing in infrastructure, including road paving, parks, and recreation improvements.
- Supporting first responders with smart budgeting to maximize resources for police and fire services.
- Strengthening local business growth by eliminating unnecessary regulations and creating a business-friendly environment.
- Bringing new business opportunities to Magee by working closely with Simpson County Economic Development to attract investment along Highway 49.
- Increasing transparency and accountability, with weekly staff meetings to ensure efficiency and responsiveness in city government.
Grubbs’ work ethic and leadership approach are shaped by years of experience, including 23 years as a supervisor in the Tool and Die Department at Nissan North America in Canton, MS. His attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and ability to bring teams together will be instrumental in leading Magee into its next chapter.
A 1979 graduate of Magee High School, Grubbs attended Co-Lin Junior College, majoring in Machine Tool Technology. He is married to Suzanne Stephens Grubbs, and together, they have three children and four grandchildren.
“I love this city, and I believe in its potential,” Grubbs stated. “But reaching that potential requires strong, active leadership—the kind that doesn’t slow down when challenges arise but instead works harder. Magee needs a mayor who is prepared to act and has the energy and endurance to lead us into a new era of growth and opportunity.”
With a clear vision, relentless work ethic, and a deep commitment to the people of Magee, Mark Grubbs is ready to get to work.
It’s time for a change. It’s time to move Magee forward.
