My friend, Vic Prather, has agreed to “get on board” and write devotionals for MageeNews.com “Ducks on the Pond.” Inspiration for Today is located near the bottom of the home page.  We have several excellent writers who share their words of encouragement with our readers.

“A native of Smith County and 1983 graduate of Mize High School but I consider Simpson County home!  I am married to the former Angie Winstead of Mendenhall and we are the proud parents of three beautiful daughters, Logan (a freshman at Colin), Bayleigh (11th grade SCA) and Gabi (10th grade at SCA)!  We are active members of Corinth Baptist Church in Magee where we are involved in various miniseries and programs  and I work for Community Bank in Brandon, MS as Vice President of Information Technology.  I am Thankful for Gods Mercy and Grace every day and for second chances! ”

Vic’s first devotion.

⚽ WORLD CUP QUESTION OF THE DAY!

June 20, 2026

Masterpiece!
For we are God’s masterpiece.  He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10
One morning last week as I finished up my breakfast bar, my eyes were drawn to the wrapper that now lay empty and ready to be tossed away.  The wrapper had a rip down the side, a dab of peanut butter inside, and a few crumbs left.  Not really anything left to offer anyone.  As I thought about how the wrapper once held a delicious bar inside,  my mind took me to how I feel a lot of times about myself.  Often times I feel like that wrapper! I feel empty and worthless – that anything good in me is gone!
A lot of people may be like me! They may feel like an empty wrapper! They may feel all the good inside is gone!
As I was having these very thoughts, God reminded me that I am HIS masterpiece!  As I let the word masterpiece sink in for just a few minutes, I recalled Ephesians 2:10 where I am reassured of God’s word and plan, and unlike the wrapper He has good things planned for us! I can rest easy knowing that God has created us for a greater purpose! And yes we are his masterpiece!  Just know that on the days when we fill empty or worthless that we still have Jesus and that is enough!
Vic Prather

Thank you, Vic.  I look forward to many more inspiring devotions.
