MAGEE WELCOMES DR. JONATHAN SAPPINGTON

COLLINS, Miss. – On Tuesday, September 14, Family Care Magee will open an additional location on the third floor of the Medical Towers at Tuscan Court, led by Dr. Jonathan Sappington.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to work and serve the Magee community,” said Sappington. “I recognize there is a need for family care physicians in the area, and I am looking forward to forming relationships with the people in this area.”

Sappington, a member of the Marine Corps, is a graduate of Mississippi State University and the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He said his active-duty service had a large impact on his decision to pursue a career in the medical field.

“While deployed to Afghanistan, I saw the work that the Corpsmen and medical officers were performing for both the locals as well as for my platoon, and I was inspired to get further education so that I too could provide these services to my local community,” said Sappington. “I felt that they were making a significant difference in the lives of their patients, and I wanted to have that same impact.”

The third-floor location, previously operated by St. Dominic Medical Associates, will now be operated by Covington County Hospital as an extension of its existing clinic, Family Care Magee. Nurse practitioners Angela McCallum and Carsyn Burch will continue to practice at the third floor Family Care Magee location. Family Care Magee currently has two doctors seeing patients on the first floor of the towers, Dr. Rita Redd and Dr. Amanda Cooley.

St. Dominic’s will continue to collaborate with Family Care Magee to bring specialists to the clinic.

“St. Dominic’s has been privileged to serve the Magee community for many years, and we are excited about the opportunity to continue supporting specialty care needs here as a result of this partnership,” said Dave Estorge, Vice President, Business Development & Integration, Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System.

To schedule an appointment with Dr. Sappington, call 601-603-9292. Walk-ins are welcome, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Suite 370 of the Medical Towers at Tuscan Court.
