Magee High School Media Club and Yearbook Club celebrated journalism as they attended the MS High School Journalism Conference held Thursday, October 24, 2018, at the University of Southern Mississippi.
The Mississippi Scholastic Press Association sponsored the conference, and students were able to attend 30 different sessions covering a variety of topics ranging from journalism, photography, yearbook, leadership, interview skills, social media, to podcasts. Students were able to attend three sessions each and split into small groups to maximize the sessions.
The keynote speaker was Howard Ballou, reporter and anchor for WLBT in Jackson, who discussed his journalism career, answered questions from students, and encouraged participants to pursue their dreams.
The conference wrapped up with the MSPA yearbook and literary magazine awards ceremony. The MHS Media Club and Yearbook Club look forward to attending the next MSPA conference in the spring at Ole Miss.
