On July 21, 2016, E. O. Berry Motor Company contacted the Magee Police Department and reported that their business had been burglarized. A 2004 GMC Yukon was stolen off the property. The Magee Police Department entered the vehicle as a stolen vehicle on the nation wide computer NCIC.
On August 8, 2016, Richland Police Department arrested Jermaine Williamson 144 J. Smith Road, Magee driving this stolen vehicle. Officers found inside this vehicle a stolen guitar from a Church Burglary in Simpson County. (Magee Pentecostal Church)f
Simpson County Sheriff Department Investigator Chris Wallace and Magee Police Department investigator Joey Womack traveled to Rankin County Sheriff’s Office and conducted an interview with Jermaine Williamson
Williamson admitted to the investigators that he did steal the 2004 GMC Yukon from E. O. Berry Motor Company and had stolen the guitar from a church located on highway 28 just outside of Magee. The tag on the Yukon had been stolen at Mt Moriah Church, and the office of Sharon Presbyterian Church had been ram shacked but nothing taken.
Williamson also admitted he attempted to break- into several area churches but was unsuccessful.
Williamson will be charged by The Magee Police Department: Commercial Burglary and Auto Theft.
Thanks to the quick arrest and cooperation between Richland Police, Simpson County Sheriff and the Magee Police Department.
Simpson County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Unit will have criminal charges on this individual.
