The agenda was approved.

Mayor Mark Grubbs informed the board that the city’s comprehensive plan is under internal review before being presented.

Grubbs also reminded citizens that debris and limbs cannot be picked up together.

The minutes were approved.

Alderman Allyson Berch expressed gratitude local pastors and churches who participated in Mission Magee this month.

The claims docket was approved.

Alice Green, branch manager of the Magee Public Library, presented the board with updates on the library’s circulation and upcoming events.

The board approved the lowest bid for new fuel tanks, which will be double-walled and used for city equipment. The current tanks are approximately 90 years old and out of date, according to Public Works Director Tim Bray.

Zoning Administrator Evan Jones requested a hearing for rezoning a property on Jefferson Drive from general commercial to single family residential. The board approved the request.

Parks and Recreation Director Susan Mangum requested approval to apply to have McNair Springs placed on the Mississippi Arboretum Trail, which will require the city to provide signage and have in-service training. The board approved the application.

Mangum also said someone was coming to fix the splash pad this week.

Airport Manager David Moore told the board that three-fourths of the  area around the hangars has been asphalted, and the apron has been ground out.

Brett Duncan of Prince CPA explained to the board that the city’s budget is “trending the right way.” He reminded them that on September 8 at 5 p.m. there will be a public hearing for tax levy discussion.

The board approved a financing quote for the side boom tractor. Only one bid was received, which was from Trustmark for 60 months at 4.61%. The purchase of the tractor was made through the state contract process.

Duncan reminded the board and the public that modernization money comes from internet use tax. He told the board that the city’s sales tax “is hanging in there.”

The board approved the following special events applications:

  • Magee High School Senior Parade on Monday, August 3, 2026, at 7:45 a.m.
  • Back to School Splash on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
