Grubbs updated the board on the status of various work projects throughout the city. He said the asphalt plant in Mt. Olive has been down, but when it is up and running again, the city will be working on patching potholes in town.

The city’s water tanks at plant one and two have been washed, and the tennis courts have been washed and will have three nets replaced with new ones. Two more sets of bleachers at the Sportsplex have been removed as well.

The City Park playground “looks really good,” according to Grubbs, who said more sod will be added and the rolling gate will be relocated.

The board approved the minutes.

Alderman Allyson Berch suggested that in the event of future extremely cold temperatures, the city should consider being prepared to offer warming stations. The board discussed the possibility of partnering with the Red Cross to offer a shelter as well.

The Claims Docket was approved.

The board discussed the sewage dumping/grease control ordinance and agreed to change the hours for dumping to Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The proposed ordinance will be updated and reintroduced at the board’s next meeting.

The board approved $8543 to update the remaining streetlights to LED. The city previously replaced 274 lights, but 271 still need replacing.

The board approved a one-year marketing agreement.

The board approved $146.54 to send certified letters for seized weapons. Police Chief Denis Borges said there are 169 seized weapons ready to be sold, telling the board the police department did receive a grant for the purchase of new weapons. He plans to pay for the city’s grant match with the sale of the seized weapons. The board approved the low bid for the guns, which was $11,548.75.

The board approved proposed fees for inspections.

The board approved the low bid for concrete at the Sportsplex for $9179, as well as the low bid for sod at the City Park, which was $6000. Additionally, the board approved the low bid for fencing at the park in the amount of $7900.

Jimmy Zila informed the board that the Parks and Recreation Committed recommended keeping advertising to one business on each outfield while adding one sign at each dugout. The board approved.

In other business, Suzie Bourn recommended Donna Martin as a replacement for her representative on the Parks and Recreation Committee. The board approved.

The meeting was adjourned, and the board entered executive session.
