Magee 14 Year Old Boys Win District!
The dreaded time has arrived! Our boys are outgrowing Dixie Youth Baseball. For this group of 14 year old boys, this will be the last of playing Dixie Youth Baseball for them. What a wonderful time and experience they have had! Most of these young men have played Dixie Youth baseball, for the City of Magee, their entire childhood. Plus, most of them have been on the All-star team every year. None of this would even be possible if it was not for our city having such a wonderful sports complex, dedicated staff, and great parents that are willing to volunteer their time to coach these children. Our children have been taught great sportsmanship, to always give everything 100 %, and never ever give up. They are truly “ALLSTARS”!
Last week, this fine group of young men traveled to Lawrence County for the District Championship Tournament. Let me tell you, they showed out and showed their baseball ability. This group of 14 year old boys came out of this tournament undefeated, winning the District Championship. There were a couple of really close games, but these guys never gave up. During the tournament, Zack Teater hit his first walk off home run; Seth Russell, Caleb Brown, and Neal Carter hit walk off home runs and John Sullivan hit two walk off runs.
Representing the City of Magee, the players on the team are: Bowen Kelly, Chandler Pruitt, Dylan Rankin, Christian Allen, Dearrius Gray, Luke West, Neal Carter, John Sullivan, Zack Teater, Caleb Brown, Seth Russell and Keshun Collier. The coaches are Demetrius Gray, Josh Teater and Scott Kelly. Our 14 year old All-stars will travel to Cleveland, MS, this upcoming week to battle for the state championship. Everyone, please wish them good luck.
