Lillie Mae Gibson Lewis passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, at Magee General Hospital at the age of 93. She was born on January 12, 1927, to her late parents Dewey Mahaffey and Ollie Mae (McCory) Mahaffey in Scott County, MS.
Lillie, along with her late husband, Emmitt Gibson, owned and operated Gibson’s Western Wear in Magee for many years. Lillie and Emmitt’s son David took over the business and it is still in operation. Lillie loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an inspiration to them all.
She is survived by her sons, John Gibson (Karen), David Gibson (Barbara); daughters, Rose Daniels (Dave), Shirley A. Maddox Herrington (Wayne Herrington); brothers, Grady Mahaffey (Faye), Raymond Mahaffey (Betty); sisters, Eula Maude Clack and Patsy Roberts; eight grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Emmitt Gibson and Warren Lewis; brothers, Edward Mahaffey and Ray Mahaffey; brothers in law, Frank Clack and Truman Roberts.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 24, 2020, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. with funeral services immediately following all at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee. Bro. Gary Roberts will officiate. Interment will be at the Magee City Cemetery.
