Lemar Weathersby
(October 4, 1936 – November 30, 2015)
Lemar Weathersby, 79, of Harrisville, passed from this life Monday November 30, 2015 at Mississippi Baptist Hospital in Jackson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee. Rev. Earnest Harper, Rev. Milton Williams and Rev. James Carter will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Salem M.B. Church. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements, (601)849-5031.
Mr. Weathersby gave his life to Christ at a young age. He graduated from New Hymn High School in 1955, but before L.M. could graduate, he had to change his name from L.M. Weathersby to Lemar Weathersby. He moved to Chicago in 1955. While in Chicago he met Carolyn Ovetta Seals of Chicago, IL in 1955. L.M. and Carolyn Weathersby was united in Holy Matrimony October 5, 1956. He was employed with Manu factor plant and later changed careers to self-employed construction worker in 1982. He worked as a direct care assistant for Millcreek Rehabilitation Center in Magee, MS until he retired. He moved back to Harrisville, MS in 1985. He served as a deacon at The Mount Olive Baptist Church, in Harrisville, MS under Pastor Rev. Davis.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 4, 2015 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee. He is survived by: Daughters – Valerie Harris (Darryl) of Irving, TX, Anita Clay (Robert) of Winona, MS; Sons – Larry Weathersby (Vicky) of Chicago, IL, Darrell Weathersby of Brandon, MS, Sister – Willie Mae Graves of Chicago, IL, Brother – Glenn Porter (Doris) of Fremont, CA and Uncle – Joel Weathersby (Lula M.), Jackson, MS; 18 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren 3 step-grandchildren, and 7 step-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by: Wife – Carolyn Ovetta Weathersby; Parents- I. W. (Ike) and Eunice (McGathen) Weathersby; Sons – Stanley Weathersby of Winona, Brain Weathersby of Chicago, IL ; Daughter – Margret Eskridge of Winona; Step-Daughter – LaTonya Smith of D’Lo, and Sister – Hattie Johnson, St. Louis, MO.
Pallbearers will be: David Williams Jr., Brain Smothers, Javin Weathersby, Ant’was Johnson, Darrell Weathersby, and Derrick Weathersby.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Aavon Thomas, Willie Yates Jr. and Phillip Austin.
