The downtown area of Magee was filled with sirens around 1:00 AM Wednesday. The Special Olympics Torch Run began to the tune of a “bunch” of cop cars, security cars, and one of the Fire Trucks! Torchbearers Deshawn Mikel and James Allen Bynum began the run. Deshawn and James are Boswell employees and work with many of the clients who will participate in the Special Olympics on the Gulf Coast.
W. Turnage, a Boswell resident, met the runners near the fire station and joined in the final lap. Bill Blair welcomed the guest. Chief of Police Randy Crawford led in the Pledge of Allegiance and Mayor Jimmy Clyde played the National Anthem on his trumpet. US Marshal Miranda Holloway, a native of Magee, spoke at the event.
Best of luck to our Boswell Olympians! I know they will make Simpson County proud!
