JACKSON, MS –  The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks’ (MDWFP) Mississippi Museum of Natural Science (MMNS) invites you to experience an unforgettable night under the stars with the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra (MSO) and NASA’s Solar System Ambassadors. The 3rd Annual Moonlight, Music, and Meteors will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 7:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. at “The Den” in beautiful LeFleur’s Bluff State Park. Guests are invited to bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy a spectacular night of live music, cosmic wonders, family fun, and they might even see the Lyrid meteor shower. Tickets are $20 online until April 24 at Noon or $25 at the door: https://www.mdwfp.com/events/moonlight-music-meteors-2025. Concessions will be available to purchase.
A Celebration of Nature, Music, and Community
This collaborative event between MDWFP, MMNS, The Mississippi Museum of Natural Science Foundation (MMNSF), and MSO is supported in part by funding from the Mississippi Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts.
Although the museum was established in 1932, this year marks the 25th anniversary of its move to LeFleur’s Bluff State Park. “As we celebrate the Museum’s 25th year at LeFleur’s Bluff, events like Moonlight, Music, and Meteors showcase what makes this place so special – bringing people together to experience the beauty of nature in unforgettable ways,” said Museum Director Angel Rohnke.
MMNSF, which helps support the Museum and this beloved event, echoed the sentiment: “Moonlight is one of those magical nights where science, art, and nature blend perfectly. We’re proud to support this unique experience and celebrate connecting families to Mississippi’s wild side,” said MMNSF Executive Director Susan Frazier.
“We are delighted to provide a creative program of music to enrich an evening of star and planet-gazing. We look forward to exploring the cross-section of MSO and the Museum’s missions,” said MSO Maestro Crafton Beck.
ABOUT THE MUSEUM: MDWFP’s Mississippi Museum of Natural Science, located at 2148 Riverside Drive in Jackson within LeFleur’s Bluff State Park, inspires visitors with wildlife exhibits, aquariums, nature trails, and scientific collections representing the state’s natural wonders. Admission: $9 for adults, $7 for youth ages 3-18, and $8 for senior citizens ages 60 and up. Plan your adventure: 601-576-6000 or www.mdwfp.com/museum.
