Megan graduated from Simpson County Academy in 2004. She attended the University of Southern Mississippi beginning in 2004 through 2008 and earned her Bachelor’s degree is Mass Communication and Journalism with an Emphasis in Public Relations and Speech Communication.

Megan was selected to intern for the Press Secretary of a Mississippi United States Senator in 2008. Megan also participated in the British Studies Program through the University of Southern Mississippi where she studied international communication.

Megan graduated with her Juris Doctorate from Mississippi College School of Law in Jackson, Mississippi, in 2011 and was licensed to practice law in the State of Mississippi in July 2012.

Megan has trial and courtroom experience in the following counties:

Simpson, Covington, Smith, Jefferson Davis, Lawrence, Lauderdale, Clarke, Neshoba, Forrest, Lamar, Stone, Harrison, Hinds, Rankin, Madison, Lee, Jones, Jasper, Copiah, Hancock, Kemper, and Lincoln.

Throughout her professional career, Megan has selectively chosen attorneys to work for that, in her opinion, exemplify the ideal, fearless (and feared) trial advocates, specifically in the areas of civil rights, constitutional law, and criminal defense. To name a few, William “Bill” Ready, Sr. in Meridian, Mississippi; John Colette in Jackson, Mississippi; Leigh Ann Key in Meridian, Mississippi; and Terrell Stubbs in Simpson County, Mississippi.

From 2017 until March 2025, before opening her own law firm, Megan worked as an Associate Attorney for W. Terrell Stubbs at the Stubbs Law Firm in Magee and Prentiss, Mississippi.

Megan is a wife and mother  married to Michael Thornton of Prentiss, Mississippi. Megan and Michael have four children.
