The Simpson County Sheriff’s office held a Church Security Planning Meeting Tuesday, November 20, 2017 at First Baptist Church Mendenhall.
The meeting was originally scheduled to take place at the Justice Court court room, but due to large response of attendance the meeting was moved to First Baptist Church Mendenhall.
Sheriff O’Cain welcomed and spoke to everyone about the safety issues within a church. The sheriff’s team planted a civilian in the audience who stood up and started causing controversy unaware to the ones in attendance that this was a planned operation of how to handle a disruptive person.
Andy Gibson, Eugene Knight, Clay McPherson, and others spoke on the importance of having a security plan in play at each church.
Guidelines and suggestions were discussed for each church to take back to their home church and begin to utilize.
Thanks to Sheriff O’Cain and the Sheriff’s office for planing this meeting and educating the public further on safety matters.
