RAYMOND, Miss. – The Copiah-Lincoln Community College Lady Wolves started the 2020 campaign with a bang on Friday as they blanked Hinds 9-0. The win sets the tone for Co-Lin moving into the season as the Lady Wolves did not drop a set the entire day.

Paula Coronado and Susana Patino played No. 1 doubles for the Lady Wolves and shut-out Hinds’ Elizabeth Wooten and Ally Massey, 8-0. Sisters Madison Shows and Mckenzie Shows followed the strong start at No. 2 doubles and defeated Emi Smith and Anesha Smith, 8-0. Britany Barnett and Gracie Phillips suited up at No. 3 doubles but won their match by default.

Coronado led the Lady Wolves in singles play at the No. 1 slot. The sophomore gave up just one game against Wooten on her way to a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Patino remained perfect on the day at No. 2 as she blanked Emi Smith 6-0, 6-0. Madison Shows faced Massey at No. 3 singles where she won handily, 6-2, 6-1. Mckenzie Shows played No. 4 singles and cruised by Anesha Smith 6-3, 6-0. Barnett picked up a win at No. 5 singles over Cloe Barten, 7-5, 6-1, to round out singles action as Phillips’ match at No. 6 was won by default.
