Simpson Academy girls basketball defeated Leake for the district title at East Rankin, on Saturday. Simpson’s girls put up a hard fight with a score of 48-36. Junior, Payton Purvis, led the cougars with 25 points and 9 rebounds. Purvis did a excellent job guarding, Leake’s top player, Miriam Prince. Both teams will be playing in the MAIS North State Tournament this week.

Simpson Academy will be hosting the MAIS North State Tournament. Both Simpson teams will play Starkville Academy in the first round on Wednesday, February 8. Girls will play at 6:30 p.m. and boys will play at 7:45 p.m.

Congraulations to the following athletes who made all district: Carson Carter, Maddie Craft, Payton Purvis, Colin Jenkins, and Chance Funchess.
