Alma Lavon Jones Caston, 87, of D’lo Mississippi, passed away on February 3, 2023. She was devoted to her family and friends, gregarious and fun-loving. She also loved her quiet time. Doll making was her favorite past-time, as were painting, decorating, and collecting antiques. She was a faithful member of Southern Baptist Churches, participating in a plethora of Church organizations and committees. To enter her home was akin to taking a tour of any fabulous mansion. She was meticulous in all that she did and how she presented herself.
She took great pride in her surviving husband, Dale Caston, daughter Carla Bedwell, and husband W. Bryant Bedwell, M.M., and grandson, William Rene’ de la Tour. She is survived by two sisters, Elsie Rucker and Lavelle McLendon.
Alma’s quick wit, her innate graciousness and genuine Southern charm, will be greatly missed by all. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Bessie Jones, and two sisters, Lois Blair, and Dorothy Mahaffey.
Alma was born in Mendenhall, MS on December 4, 1935. She graduated from Mendenhall High School, living in Baton Rouge and New Orleans for 45 years, Mandeville for 18 years, and D’lo MS for her final 22 years. Alma will be laid to rest in D’lo Cemetary on February 6, 2023. Thanks are extended to the medical staff at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Magee MS.
Proverbs 22:1
“A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, loving favor rather than silver and gold.”
