Sadie Kate Kennedy recently participated in the 2018 Organization of American Kodály Educators National Honor Choirs Convention in Oklahoma City, OK. She was one of 27 vocalists singing in the 2018 OAKE Chamber Ensemble. Sadie Kate was selected as a vocalist for the 2018 OAKE Chamber Ensemble by an audition process in November 2017. She was encouraged to audition by her Mississippi Girlchoir conductor Scott Sexton. After being notified of her acceptance into the Chamber Ensemble, she spent the last few months learning the 8 pieces of performance music including four songs in English & four songs in Latin. All practices for the convention were held at the Cox Convention Center with the final concert being held at the Civic Center Music Hall. All four OAKE choirs including the Children’s Choir, the Youth Choir, the Women’s Choir & the Chamber Ensemble performed at the final concert. Out of the hundreds of elementary aged to high school aged vocalists from across the United States to participate in the four choirs at the OAKE conference this year, Sadie Kate was the only vocalist to represent Mississippi. While at the conference, Sadie Kate was commended on her expressionism during her vocal performances. She also charmed many people with her sweet, Southern manners & her Deep South accent.
Sadie Kate is the 17 year old homeschooled daughter of Brian C. & Audra Kennedy. She is the granddaughter of Shelby & Barbara Colson, and Bobbie Kennedy & the late Jim Kennedy.
