Ken Weldon passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2022, at Merit Health in Hattiesburg, MS. He was born on December 26, 1947, to Robert Weldon and Earline Moorehead Weldon in Newton, MS.
He is survived by his wife, Claudette Kennedy Weldon; three sons, Shane Cothern (Becky), Tim Cothern, Kevin Weldon (Kelsea); daughter, Dusty Graves (Rayford); sisters, Susan Willis, Debbie Crapps, Marie Tinnin, Mary Williamson (Mike); brother, Robert, Weldon (Theresa); sixteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, along with extended family and numerous friends that Ken has met during his lifetime.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Earline Weldon; brothers-in-law, Rodney Willis, Phillip Crapps, and Jimmy Tinnin.
Ken graduated high school in Forest MS in 1967. Ken went to work at Colonial Bread company where he excelled in sales and service for several years, then in 1987 Ken started his own business called Sort and Save mailing service. He served as a Deacon at Athens Baptist Church and worked with the Simpson Baptist Association for many years. Ken also served the community as a Gideon and with Angel Wings in Mendenhall. Ken, along with Carnell Rankin, started Concerned Christians of Simpson County as a way to spread God’s Word to those who may not have access to it.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee, MS from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The service will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 28, at Tutor Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Athens Cemetery with Pastor Shane Cothern officiating.
