Kathy (Greer) Ellis passed away Saturday, January 1, 2022, at the age of 66.  She was born to Billy and Nell (Grubbs) Greer on September 5, 1955, in Jackson, MS.
She was a beloved sibling to her brother and sisters.  She will be missed greatly and thought of daily.  To her grandchildren, and many of their friends, she was best known as “Mimi”.  Though generally quiet, when Kathy chose to, she’d let you know rather quickly that her sharp sense of humor was well intact.  And don’t make her point her finger at you.
Kathy dedicated her 40-year professional career to the nuclear industry beginning as an MT/PT technician with MP&L at a time when there weren’t a great number of females performing those tasks.  At the time of her passing, she served the Westinghouse Nuclear Services group as a Marketing Engineer within the Commercial Integration Department.  She rose through the ranks within both General Electric and Westinghouse organizations and has been instrumental in assisting many of her coworkers in their success in the industry.
Kathy acquired her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration while working with Westinghouse.  She was well-credentialed and highly respected by her peers.  She held numerous professional qualifications and certifications.  Throughout her career, she has collected a tremendous number of life-long friends.
Kathy is survived by her daughter, Sharon Rice (Daniel); brother, Billy Wayne Greer (Jenise); sisters, Kimbeley Johnson, Karon Watson (Norman); grandchildren, Jake Lunn, Emily Lunn, McKenzie Rice, Natalie Rice and Avery Rice.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Billy and Nell Greer as well as her grandson, John Ross Lunn.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 5, 2022, from 2:00 PM through 4:00 PM at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee, MS.  Services will follow in the Tutor Chapel with Bro. Jay Wesbrooks officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask donations may be made to Blair E. Batson, umc.edu/givenow, or UMC, 2500 North State Street, Jackson, MS 39216 in memory of Kathy Greer Ellis or one of the local animal shelters.
Arrangements are entrusted to Tutor Funeral Home of Magee
