From Magee Police Chief Denis Borges:
On Friday at approximately 3:38 a.m., Magee Police Department received a call reporting juveniles possibly armed with handguns and rifles at the Circle K gas station on Main Ave. Officers arrived on the scene at 3:43 a.m. and made contact with two juveniles. After further investigation, it was discovered that the juveniles, both 17 years of age, were in possession of two high-powered rifles concealed in their pants. Notably, one of the rifles had an 8-inch barrel, which is below the legal minimum length of 16 inches as required by federal law.
Both juveniles were charged and processed at Magee Police Department before being released.
It’s important to note that they were released to their parents. Juveniles who endanger the safety of others should be held accountable like any other individual. I want the citizens of Magee to know that our department will always act to ensure your safety. Rest assured, our officers will continue to work diligently to protect you and your family.
