Julia Sullivan Styron, 85, of Magee, Mississippi, passed away January 10, 2022.

Julia was born on November 21, 1936, to the late Glaston and Climmie Sullivan. She attended school at Mize Attendance Center and the Gilfoy School of Nursing. In her nursing career, she touched and made a difference in many lives. She worked in the operating room at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center, was head nurse in recovery at St. Dominic’s Hospital, and worked in the operating room at the Mississippi Tuberculosis Sanatorium. She concluded her career in school health serving all schools in the Simpson County School District and was inducted into the National School Nurse Association for her dedication and years of service. Julia was a member of First Baptist Church of Magee where she served as a beloved Sunday school teacher for many years and served on various committees. She was a member of the First Baptist Church Friendship Sunday School class, Thomas Lacey Chapter of the Colonial Dames of the Seventeenth Century, Order of the Eastern Star, Magee Woman’s Club, The Red Hat Chicks Society, and the Sinfonia Music Club. She was accomplished in many areas and was an avid reader, and enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles; she loved cooking with and for her family and was known specifically for her chicken and dumplings and dressing; but the thing that brought her the most joy was being with her family.

In addition to her parents, Julia was preceded in death by her husband, Alvis H. Styron, Sr., her son, Alvis H. Styron, Jr., her granddaughter, Laura Elizabeth Styron, and her sister Climmis Sullivan Byars.
