John Pat Barr, Sr. passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2016, at the age of 79. He was born on September 4, 1936, to Guy Barr, Sr. and Ulmar (Bounds) Barr in Simpson County.

As a retired farmer, Pat loved being outdoors.  He was a member of Weathersby Baptist Church and a past Simpson County School Board Member.

He is survived by his wife, Sue (Harvey) Whittom Barr; sons, James Dennis Barr (Pam), John Pat Barr (Cheryl), Guy Nolan Barr; daughters, Angela Reiken, Suzanne Whitton;  brothers, Don Barr, Guy Barr, Ardis Barr; sisters, Edwinia Nichols, Polly Harvey; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Esther; brother, Joel Barr and sister, Jean Hamblett.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 15, 2016, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Tutor Funeral Home in Mendenhall with the service following at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel.  Rev. Charles Ray Burnham, Rev. Stephen Keen and Rev. John Coleman will officiate.  Interment will be in Dry Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Tutor Funeral Home of Mendenhall.
