Joe Marion Metts, Sr. of Pearl, MS, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at the age of 87.
He was born on June 21, 1931, to his late parents, James Lloyd and Myra (Causey) Metts.
Mr. Metts was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He served with the Navy in the early 1950’s. Mr. Metts worked with Bell South for thirty-seven years. Upon his retirement, Mr. Metts sold real estate in Brandon, MS for seventeen years and throughout his lifetime he served as a bi-vocational minister of music in Mississippi and Georgia.
He is survived by his wife, Martha (Dodd) Metts; son, Reverend Joe Metts, Jr. (Teri); daughter, Myra Arnold; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James Metts; a sister, Virginia Hill.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at Dry Creek Baptist Church, Magee, Mississippi.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Joseph Hospice Foundation, 17732 Highland Road, Suite G, Box 241, Baton Rouge, LA 70810.
Arrangements are entrusted to Tutor Funeral Home of Magee, Mississippi.
