Joaquin Blackwell, who was charged with the murder of Deputy James Blair, was arraigned Monday morning, June 15, 2020, at the Simpson County Justice Court. Blackwell will be held in the Rankin County Jail without bond.
Joaquin was charged with Capital Murder in the killing of Deputy James Blair and denied bond.
Blackwell was apprehended Saturday, June 13, 2020, at approximately 2:30 PM. He was hiding in the woods behind the Shell Station in Mendenhall. A 23 hour man hunt was conducted before locating Blackwell. Because law enforcement was given a false report by Shawn Tullos, the search for Blackwell moved toward D’Lo. Once learning the statement from Tullos was false, the search intensified behind the Shell Station.
