JACKSON, Miss. – The Mississippi Agriculture and Livestock Theft Bureau (MALTB), with the assistance of the Chilton County Alabama Sheriff’s Office, recovered a Piper Archer II airplane that was stolen from the Indianola Airport in Sunflower County, Mississippi.

On December 20, 2024, the Sunflower County Sheriff’s Department took the initial report of the stolen Piper Archer II airplane. MALTB investigators were then contacted for assistance. On January 17, 2025, a stolen Corvette was stopped by the Madison Police Department for a traffic violation. Based on information gathered from the stolen corvette, investigators were led to the city of Jemison, in Chilton County, Alabama, where they located and recovered the airplane.

The airplane was recovered with the assistance of Chilton County Sheriff John Shearon’s investigators. Mississippi Agriculture and Livestock Theft Bureau Director Dean Barnard commended the MALTB investigators that worked on this case, as well as the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in the recovery efforts.
