Citizens of Magee,

My name is Jim Snider and I am pleased to announce that I am running for Mayor of Magee in the upcoming Mayoral elections.  I am making this announcement after observing City business through the eyes and words of various citizens over the last four years. I have qualified as an Independent and will be listed only on the June 3, 2025, General Election ballot.

I was born and raised in Tuscaloosa, AL.  I attended The University of Alabama, receiving a B.S. Business Industrial Relations degree.  I attended Samford University in Birmingham, obtaining a Masters in Business Administration degree, and I attended Cumberland School of Law at Samford University where I received a Doctorate of Jurisprudence (JD).

Having moved to Magee during the pandemic I witnessed the struggles of City Administration and from time to time offered advice to concerned citizens regarding how they might contribute to the improvement of City goals and services.  It recently became obvious that concerned citizens were interested in new leadership that could put a fresh set of eyes on the challenges confronting the City.

So, why my candidacy?  I have considerable experience as an adviser of Middle Managers, General Managers, Executives, Chief Executive Officers (CEOs), and yes even lawyers serving as the Head of Legal for Entergy Mississippi for over 25 years.  My experience does not stop there, however.  While serving in my Corporate duties I have also as an interested citizen myself advised legislators, governors, economic development directors, state agency heads, and consultants.  I have negotiated lawsuit settlements and contracts that involved significant financial interests.  Due to my admission to practice law in the States of Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi, my activities as a lawyer and counselor have extended across state lines necessitating admission before the US 5th Circuit & 11th Circuit Court of Appeals as well as the United States Supreme Court. I have been blessed with extensive experience and feel that it is time for me to “give back” by offering the Citizens of the City my skills in management.

My wife Sharron and I moved to Magee from Madison, MS in 2021 to be closer to family in Smith County.  We live in downtown Magee where we enjoy gardening and hosting friends and family throughout the year.  We have fallen in love with the City and its citizens.

We are parents to four sons and a daughter. Our sons were educated in Madison.  Three of the four sons went to Mississippi colleges that including Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and Mississippi College, while one son and our daughter attended my Alma Mater, the University of Alabama.

I am running for mayor of Magee to offer an accountable, responsive government using a sound financial approach. I believe it is vital for Magee citizens to elect a demonstrated leader as their Mayor to drive the success of the city for the next four years. I am committed to serving people through experienced leadership centered on transparency and integrity.  If elected, I promise to move swiftly to analyze city government efficiencies and make adjustments as necessary to better serve the citizens.

As Mayor, citizens can count on me to be a businesslike, common-sense, and responsive leader for the city of Magee.  I plan to meet as many people as possible to share my vision and listen to your ideas about what the future can be for Magee.

I ask for your support and trust, as well as your vote. Together, we CAN achieve a better future for our City.

Thank you very much; I hope to earn your vote on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.
