On Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at approximately 07:57 hours, a Magee Police officer conducted a traffic stop on Highway 49 North, just past the Woodyard, for a vehicle operating without a license plate. Upon contact with the driver, identified as Jessica Reina Thornton, it was discovered that she was operating the vehicle with an expired driver’s license and without proof of insurance. During the stop, the officer observed signs indicating that Thornton appeared to be under the influence of some sort of narcotics. Further investigation revealed a misdemeanor amount of marijuana in her possession.

Thornton was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Magee Police Department, where she was booked and processed for the following charges:
• DUI (1st offense)
• Possession of Marijuana (Misdemeanor)
• Expired Driver’s License
• No Insurance
• Improper/No License Plate Display

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
