Jeanette K. Garner, 73 of Magee, Mississippi, passed away Monday, January 12, 2026, at the Advent Health Hospital in Davenport, FL. She was born on Friday, October 31, 1952, in Magee, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 pm at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at 12:00 pm at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee. Burial will follow in J. B. Womack Cemetery in Mendenhall, Mississippi. Bro. Gary Roberts will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031.
Jeanette was born in Magee, Mississippi, on October 31, 1952. She graduated in 1971 from Magee High School. She was the head dispatcher with the Simpson County Sheriff Department and was a waitress at Western Sizzlin and Huddle House. Her retirement job was being a security guard at Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
Jeanette never met a stranger and loved to make someone smile. She loved traveling and especially loved her boys. She enjoyed life and was thankful for each day. She was a faithful Believer. Her flowers and country music were sources of enjoyment.
She was preceded in death by her father, J N Kennedy; mother, Virginia Lucky Kennedy; brothers, James David Kennedy, John Steve Kennedy; and also her paternal grandparents: Richmond T Kennedy, Mary ‘Aby’ Dunaway Kennedy, and maternal grandparents Joseph Thomas Lucky and Ora Emmaline Lucky.
Survivors include her sons, Lee Garner (Nicolas) of Magee, MS, Chalmer David Smith Jr. of Taylorsville, MS, and Joseph Thomas Smith of Petal, MS; brothers, Jacky Lamar Kennedy of Magee, MS, and Jerry Wayne Kennedy (Patsy) of Mize, MS; and sister, Julie Ann Cosper of Mize, MS.
Pallbearers will be Chalmer David Smith, Lee Garner, Nicolas Espinel Martinez, Joseph Thomas Smith, and Nick Dardar.
