The month of March is recognized each year as Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) Awareness Month. On March 5, 2026, Mark Grubbs, Mayor of Magee, signed a proclamation officially recognizing March 2026 as IDD Awareness Month for the City of Magee.

Three individuals served by Boswell Regional Center who live in Magee had the special opportunity to attend the proclamation signing at City Hall. They also captured the moment with a photo alongside Mayor Grubbs to commemorate the occasion.

The proclamation recognizes that individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities share the same hopes and opportunities as other Mississippians, including the pursuit of independence, education, meaningful employment, and full participation in their communities. It also highlights the valuable impact individuals with IDD make on the City of Magee and surrounding areas through both social and economic contributions and encourages citizens to recognize and appreciate the strengths and contributions individuals with IDD bring to the community.
