Janet C Peden, 75 of Magee, MS passed away Friday, March 04, 2022 at Merit Health Central in Jackson, MS. She was born Thursday, April 11, 1946 in Magee, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 06, 2022 from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home Magee. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 06, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Magee. Burial will follow in Magee City Cemetery. Dr. Robert “Bobby” Peden and Dr. Thomas G. Jennings Jr. will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031
Mrs. Janet was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church of Magee. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was employed at Magee General Hospital in 1967 as a purchasing agent for 20 years and office worker until she retired in 2012. She was a member of The Order of Eastern Stars Chapter #301. She also was the President of Wesley Women Circle of First United Methodist Church of Magee. She was a Den leader of Pack 83- Boy Scouts of America and former Co- Chair at Magee First United Methodist Church of the American Red Cross Hurricane Relief Shelter. She was a faithful member of the TJ Burnham Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Peden; son, David W. Peden; birth father, David Coats; father, John H. Magee; mother, Katherine C. Magee; grandchild, Thomas David “Tommy” Peden; sister, Gail Sullivan.
Survivors include her son, John Michael Peden; 7 grandchildren, Jamie (Kaine) Chestnut, Timothy Peden Harvey, Hollie (Keith) Thomas, Haley ( Dr. Chadwick) Mayes, John Michael Peden II, Sunny and Rose Katherine Peden; one sister, Kay Coats; ten great-grandchildren, Natalie and Garrett Counts, Payton, Thomas, and Carter Harvey, Madelyn Hughes, Preslee and Sage Thomas and CJ and Cassius Mayes; and a host of other family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be Timmy Peden Harvey, John Michael Peden II, Brooks Sullivan, Garrett Counts, Lane Steele, and Payton Harvey.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Keith, Jason Childres and Dr. Chadwick Mayes
