Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Lafayette for Janelle Lott Foshee who died peacefully on Sunday, December 11, 2016. The family request that visiting hours be observed at First Baptist Church on Thursday from 12:00 pm until time of service.

 
Mrs. Foshee, a native of Seminary, Mississippi was the daughter of Ora Caughman Lott and Aaron Lott. Upon graduating from Seminary High School, she worked at Camp Shelby, a military training facility in Hattiesburg, for one year during World War II before entering University of Southern Mississippi where she studied nutrition and education. It was there she met Orville Foshee whom she married in 1947. They lived in Mt. Olive, Seminary, Prentiss and Hattiesburg, Mississippi before moving to Lafayette in 1973. She taught 4th, 5th, and 6th grades through the years while retaining her interest in nutrition. She was a celebrated cook, a constant gardener, an enthusiastic birdwatcher and avid bridge player. Her grandson, Scott, captured her well with these words, “Mama brought us the best chicken and dumplings, a keen sense of style, lots of love and a never-ending smile that reflected her joy for life.”

 
Survivors include her son, Craig Foshee and wife Sanfra of Madison, MS; her daughters, Jane Kirkpatrick and husband Kris of Baton Rouge, Beverly Foreman and husband David of Lafayette; brothers, Charles Lott and wife Betty of Jackson, MS and Gerald Lott and wife Joyce of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Shane Foshee, Shelley Hughes and husband Whit, Scott Kirkpatrick and wife Heather, Stephen Kirkpatrick and wife Mary Elizabeth, Jessica Foreman, Jonathan Foreman and wife Jamie and Patrick Foreman and great grandchildren, Phillip, Paxton and Presley Hughes, Laura Jane, Virginia and Kristopher Kirkpatrick, Leah and Jude Kirkpatrick and Jon David Foreman.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Orville Wright Foshee.

 
Pallbearers will be David Foreman, Kris Kirkpatrick, Whit Hughes, Scott Kirkpatrick, Stephen Kirkpatrick, Jonathan Foreman and Patrick Foreman.

 
Our very deep appreciation goes to her long time caregivers Betty Broussard and Alma James. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.

 
Interment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
Personal condolences may be sent to the Foshee family at www.delhommefuneralhome.com. Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA is in charge of funeral arrangements.
