James Wilson “J.W.” Thompson, Sr.
(August 21, 1945 – May 30, 2022)

James Wilson “J.W.” Thompson, Sr., 76 of Braxton, Mississippi passed away from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Monday, May 30, 2022, at his residence in Braxton, MS. He was born Tuesday, August 21, 1945, in D`Lo, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall at 3077 Simpson Hwy 13, Mendenhall, Mississippi.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. The burial will follow in D`Lo Cemetery in D`Lo, Mississippi. Reverend James Thompson Jr. and Reverend Joe Hanna will officiate. Special music will be performed by Mr. Danny Necaise.  Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall is in charge of arrangements. 601-847-4401

Mr. J.W. was a member of D’Lo Methodist Church in D’Lo, Mississippi.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting, playing guitar, singing in church, and most of all spending time with his family.  He will be greatly missed by all of his loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Jane Morrow Thompson; father, Eugene Lee Thompson; mother, Ruby Elzine Gowan Thompson; and brother, Charles Eugene Thompson.

Survivors include his two sons, James Wilson Thompson, Jr. (Rhonda) of Brandon, Mississippi and Douglas Eugene Thompson (Jaime) of Braxton, Mississippi; one daughter, Tammy Lynn Thompson Watkins (Holly Booth) of D Lo, Mississippi; six grandchildren, Robyn Nichole Thompson Stevens (Chuck) of Puckett, Mississippi, Jessica Lynn Thompson (Dennis) of Brandon, Mississippi, Brandon Lee Thompson of Braxton, Mississippi, Ragan Nicole Thompson Owens (Peyton) of Harrisville, Mississippi, Kaylan Noel Watkins Ely (Lee Wess) of Purvis, Mississippi and Julieanna Nelley Watkins of D Lo, Mississippi; eight great grandchildren, Ella Nichole Stogner of Puckett, Mississippi, Elijah Scott Stogner of Puckett, Mississippi, Nathalie Lynn Thompson of Brandon, Mississippi, Brantlee Lee Thompson of Braxton, Mississippi, Cristiano Josiah Thompson of Brandon, Mississippi, Carter Laine Thompson of Braxton, Mississippi, Waylon Daniel Ely of Purvis, Mississippi and Malia Jane Ely of Purvis, Mississippi; two brothers, Fred J. Thompson (Margaret) of Magnolia, Texas and David Lewis Thompson of D’Lo, Mississippi;  one sister, Shirley Jean Thompson Little of Magee, Mississippi; and a host of other family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Thompson, Peyton Owens, Lee Wess Ely, Chuck Stevens, David Thompson, and Anthony Morrow.
