Jackie Wayne Craft
Jackie Wayne Craft passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 23, 1960, to W.J. “Dub” Craft and Betty Gray Craft Bland in Simpson County, MS.
Jackie graduated from Mize High School Class of ’78. He received the Mize Bulldog Award and was inducted in the Mize Hall of Fame. He was extremely generous, smart and creative and could learn anything he put his mind to. Jackie was a mathematician and could solve anything involving numbers. He was a steel detailer and self-taught computer programmer. His passion was helping others especially children. He loved teaching and helping kids in school and watching them flourish, many times buying them Christmas gifts to make them smile.
Jackie was very proud of his sons. Many of his greatest memories are teaching them to hunt and fish. He was an avid lover of the outdoors and spent most of his time enjoying all that nature provided.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Joseph Leon Craft (Alma); maternal grandparents, Odell Gray (Winnie Gray Cook).
Jackie is survived by his wife of forty-three years, Brenda Easterling Craft; sons, Joseph Zackary Craft (Jennifer Marie) and James Kyle Craft (Ximena Morales); brother, Chris Craft (Angie); sisters, Teresa Johnson (Charles) and Lori McAlpin (Art) and one grandchild, Arden Marie Craft along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee, MS from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm. The service will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Dry Creek Baptist Church with additional visitation from 11:00 am until service time. Interment will follow in Dry Creek Cemetery. Officiating the service will be Bro. Rudy Jackson, Bro. Matt Temple and Bro. Daniel Perry.
