The Scriptural passage chosen for today is found in Deuteronomy 13:4: “It is the Lord your God you must follow, and Him you must revere. Keep His commands and obey Him; serve Him and hold fast to Him.” The Old Testament prophet is reminding God’s children that God is the One they must follow and not the various idols of this world. It is God, Who is the source of all blessings, of all good things. If they place their complete trust in Him, He will be faithful in keeping His promises to them. He will lead them and guide them as a people and a nation. The same remains true for us today as believers. If we put our trust in God, He will direct our paths and will never leave us or forsake us. “Come every soul by sin oppressed, there’s mercy in the Lord. And He will surely give you rest by trusting in His Word. Only trust Him; only trust Him; only trust Him now. He will save you; He will save you; He will save you now.” I love the words of that timeless hymn “Only Trust Him.”
