MageeNews.com interviewed Noah Harris, the first African-American man to become Harvard University’s Student Body President, voted on by his peers.
Noah is an Oak Grove High School graduate and has since become a self-published author of his own children’s book “Successville.” He is currently in his junior year of studies at Harvard Univerisity studying Government and hopes to become an attorney. In high school, he played baseball and basketball, he also knows how to play the violin and piano. He was also an eagle scout for the boy’s scouts. Noah said that he was always doing something as a young child and teenager, and if there was a club, he joined it. When he received his acceptance letter, he was actually at a basketball game and was so nervous about opening that he decided to wait till after the game. Well, Noah scored twice, he and his team won the basketball game, and he was accepted into Harvard University.
He said his campaign for becoming Student Body President was historic not only for him becoming the first African-American man chosen but because of our world living in a pandemic due to Covid-19. Noah said every class at Harvard University is virtual, so he and his running mate wanted to give the students a sense of hope and a community, hence their campaign slogan “Building Tomorrow’s Harvard.” Noah wants to show Mississippi as a progressive state and show young people that wherever they are from, they can do whatever they put their minds to.
