JACKSON – An inmate serving 20 years for statutory rape and sexual battery has died.
Tommy Lee Jones, 74, was pronounced dead Wednesday afternoon in the hospital at the Mississippi State Penitentiary.
Jones, MDOC #110743, was sentenced for both sex crimes on March. 24, 2005, in Panola County.
The official cause of death is pending autopsy results from the State Medical Examiner, which operates independently of MDOC.
