The fire started Tuesday night. Here is an over-view and update of the fire. The Magee Volunteer Fire Department was called back to the original fire on Wednesday morning.

The fire near Boswell was a smoldering dumpster full of construction materials from a renovation/demolition project. The MDEQ/asbestos division was on scene investigating & was concerned of asbestos materials in the dumpster. They requested that the fire be completely extinguished in order to limit exposure from particles carried by smoke. Someone had attempted to smother the fire w/ large amounts of dirt. This made it impossible to completely extinguish the fire w/ contents still in container. The FD has no capability to empty the contents of the container to make the smoldering materials accessible. It is being turned over to MDEQ Emergency Response in order to consider how best to deal with the issue.
