By James Davis
The Scriptural passage selected for today is found in 1 Peter 3:15: “In your hearts, set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.” The Word of God for the people of God; thanks be to God! The apostle is encouraging early Christians to be bold in proclaiming Jesus as their Lord and Master and not be timid in doing so. We, however, are never to do so in a superior, boastful, or argumentative manner. No, let us always do so in gentleness and respect, as Jesus went about doing during His earthly ministry. That same spirit is one we should adopt in all our daily exchanges. Let our lives be more and more about Jesus and His love and less about the world and its ugliness. “Jesus paid it all. All to Him I owe. Sin had left a crimson stain. He washed it white as snow.” I love that old hymn.
Happy Friday!
