I’m Just Saying, I would have been ejected from the ballgame too!

Following Simpson Academy being placed on athletic probation, I just decided to do a little checking.

The district game was held at Natchez at ACS. Our Simpson county team entered the district 30-0…that’s right; the team had not been beaten…so you know everyone was gunning for the Cougars.

Within the first 30 seconds of the ballgame, a foul was called on two of our top scoring players…and it only got worse.

An Evening of Laughter, Macarons, and Good Friends

August 7, 2026

When a  Simpson’s player went up for a lay-up shot, his legs were taken out for under him…knocking him to the floor…the refs did not call a foul or stop the game. The player was lying on the court. At this point in the game, the foul count was 40 fouls against Simpson and 9 against ACS.

The dad of the injured player came out of the stands and went onto the court to see about his son. At this point in time, words were exchanged in a very un-sportsmanship manner by the player’s dad…..and this led to the ejection of the dad from the gym which in turn put Simpson on Athletic Probation.

Probation covers all sports for one year.

I heard someone say that they had never seen an official change a call because of what a fan yells from the bleachers.  (wise words)

I am sure many are quick to criticize the father…yes, he did wrong…very wrong…but I wonder how many dads or mamas would not have gone to the aid of their son.

I’m just saying, if my son was injured…mama is coming! I may not “tell everyone off” …but I’m going to see about my son!

In this is a lesson for all….keep your temper in check…no matter how mad you get…there is someone else in charge…and they are the boss.
We can teach our children so much by our actions…good things and bad things. But, there is punishment…and sometimes the punishment may be worse than just probation.

FYI: The Cougars lost and at the end of the game, the Cougars had 49 fouls and the other team 14.

Simpson lost their first two games of the year in district playoff…entered south state as the #4 seed…defeated Central Private 82-38…and play in the semifinals Friday night at Columbia Academy against Cathedral. The game Friday night begins at 7:45.
“Wear duct tape” and support the SCA Cougars.

Just Saying!
