By James Davis
The Scriptural passage for today is found in 2 Chronicles 7:14: “If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” One of the greatest promises of God is contained within this one sentence. The prophet of old is telling his people, the nation of Israel, that their God will guard and protect them if they’ll but put their complete trust in Him, repent of their worldly ways, and be faithful to the great I AM. The prophet had a very difficult task as God’s spokesperson. Constant addressing and urging were required to try to keep them in line. It sometimes worked, but more often than not, it ended with tragic results. Today, however, we do not need a prophet to tell us of God and His promises. His Son Jesus came as a propitiation for the sins of all mankind. We now have God’s Word, the BIBLE, which contains those marvelous promises, all carefully listed and outlined. We are, therefore, without excuse. All the problems of this world could be erased if we would only humble ourselves, seek God’s face, repent, and turn from our wickedness. Let us be found doing so on a daily basis. Amen!
Happy Saturday!
