Actually, I’ve got lots of dreams…but one I have right now is to see the 1942 Magee Fire truck restored! A couple of years ago, I saw the truck. I had no idea Magee still had an antique truck in their possession.
Now, my dream, which may be crazy, is to restore the truck and place the truck in downtown Magee Madison has a caboose! Why can’t Magee have a fire truck . The fire truck would provide the perfect photo op for any occasion (marriage, graduation, etc). Incorporated into the area could be the history of the Magee Fire Department as well as past businesses.
There must be some type of grant for this project! I guess we could start a “fund.” I know there is much work to be done to see this project become a reality.
Hugh Dilmore (with the city) has been instructed by Mayor Berry to find out the cost of restoring the truck.
One of the many neat things about the truck is a plaque on the side listing the Mayor and aldermen. O. J. Biglane (Biglane Heights) was the Mayor at that time.
All the tires on the truck or flat! The original hose is still on top of the truck. Check out my pics.
