Wednesday morning, January 6, 2021, I visited SCA to attend the signing of SCA Softball player Maddie Moody with Southern Miss and talk with Headmaster Nick Lee.

I am so excited for Maddie, SCA, and USM!  (Article to follow)

Maddie Moody and SCA Athletic Director Winston Mullins

Nick is in his first year as Headmaster.  We discussed the happenings at SCA.  The big news at SCA this week is the tapping of  Todd Mangum as the Head Football Coach.  Coach Mangum is well known in this area having begun his coaching career at SCA.

Nick and I discussed the new 5,000 square foot heated facility due to open in a few short weeks.  The facility allows indoor hitting and batting practice as well as enough room for the football team to practice.  With no official name at this time, the facility has been duped “Hit Palace!”

According to the Headmaster, “we have our COVID situation pretty much controlled.  At this time, we only have 5 people out.  We have continued in person learning and feel that is the best for our students.”

The basketball teams have continued to play with controlled numbers attending the games.

Enrollment has continued to climb.
